The "House of Stone" – the "Steinerne Haus"

Constructed wholly of stone (in 1510) as a town residence for Count Johann of Ysenburg, this house, with its fine faced and high, stepped gable, provides an impressive end to the High Street. The oriel, with its mandorla tracery, was added in 1544 and its pointed roof restored in 1998. The walled yard of the late Gothic Hall House connected directly with the “Mill Gate” parapet walks.
