Rose Garden

In the course of the urban renewal works in the area of the southern town wall an old rose garden was reconstructed which was in charge of Mrs Kölsch earlier times. To enable this, a transfer of the in the late 50ies erected miniature golf set was necessary.
So the renewal in this area was almost finished. With its formal principle it fits harmonically in the ensemble of the old town parking area and the “Garten Kölsch”. Formative for this ensemble is an interesting form connected with the intensive planting.
To establish regional relationship only Steinfurther roses were considered: all in all eighty roses in form of bed roses, rambler roses and bush roses.

With the recreation of the rose garden the elements of the town fortification in the area of the southern town wall show to advantage. The new main walk through the rose garden now allows indivisibility from the market place to the Red Tower and invites to stroll. The rest area with round bench gives wide view over the flowerage, including the “Garten Kölsch”.
